When the agency is given permanent custody of a child, you can create an adoption case for the child and begin recording the details of the adoption process. (See About adoption cases for more information.) You can also select a child, normally a sibling, from another open case and add that child to this adoption case. (See Add a child to an existing adoption case.) The agency must have permanent custody of any child added to an adoption case.
Case Plan will need to be amended prior to creating adoption case. Other areas of consideration are:
The child must have the Ruling TPR Mother.
The child must have the Ruling TPR Father.
The child must have biological Mother relationship recorded, along with race and DOB.
Until these factors are addressed in the system; an Adoption case can not be created.
When you create an adoption case, the child is permanently removed from the original case, and certain information is copied from the current case to the new adoption case. (See About adoption cases.)
Once you create an adoption case, you cannot reverse the action nor can
you merge the case with another.
Create a new adoption case as follows:
From the Home screen, click the Case tab.
Click the Workload tab. The Case Workload screen appears.
Click the case ID Number link for the original case in which the child is a member. The Case Overview screen appears.
Click the Adoption link in the navigation bar on the left. The Child Members screen appears. It lists each child for whom the agency is granted permanent custody.
Select the name of the child whom you wish to move into the newly created adoption case.
From the Create Adoption Case table; select one of the children in the Case Reference Person field. The name of the case reference person is used as the case name.
Click Create Adoption Case. The system displays a dialog box explaining that the child(ren) you selected will be removed permanently from the original case. Creating an adoption case cannot be reversed.
Click OK to
create the adoption case with the child(ren) you selected. The New
Adoption Case Details screen appears.
The system assigns a new case number to the adoption case and assigns
the case category of "Adoption" and a case status of "Open."
The children moved into the adoption case are deactivated as case members
in the original case with the deactivation reason of ā€¯Moved to Adoption
Case." The children in the adoption case retains their person
IDs.
Click Work Assignment to assign the new adoption case to an adoption worker.
