Review or Update Birth Parent Information (Adoption)

For a new adoption case, you must indicate whether the mother was married at the time of the child's birth. If the mother relinquished the child voluntarily, you must conduct a search for the putative father and record the results of this search.

The system retrieves information from the original case, including the relationships of the child to the biological mother and biological father. If relationship information is not reflected on the adoption case, you can open the original case and record this information. If a biological parent dies after the adoption case is created but before it is closed, you can indicate that the parent is deceased and enter a date of death on the original case. The system will pull that information over to the adoption case.
