Adoption placement/finalization case closure information

This screen displays the status of each child's placement information and finalization checklist. It allows you to begin the process of closing and sealing an adoption case. These details are completed independently for each child in the case. The children are listed on this screen only if you add them via the Add Adoption Placement button.

The Validate Adoption Case Closure link allows you to ensure that all of the information necessary to complete and approve the case has been entered. You can validate the record when the adoption has been finalized for all the children in the case. (You can remove a child if his or her legal status was changed.) The Security Approval link allows you to submit a request to secure (seal) the child's adoptive placement and finalization record. The request goes to your supervisor for approval. The link is enabled when the child's adoptive information, adoption placement information, and finalization checklist are complete. The link is replaced by the approval date when the supervisor approves the request and the record is secured.

Once the case is secured it can be closed.

The case is included in the AFCARS report for the time period in which the adoption was finalized. A closed adoption case and the child's original case may be viewed only by workers with the appropriate access.
