Keyboard Quick Tips

You complete screens in Ohio SACWIS in the same way as other Web-based forms. So some of the tips you may have used elsewhere work here as well. Common keyboard actions appear in the following table.

Keyboard/Mouse Action

Result

Tab

Press this key to quickly move from one field to another.

First letter

With your cursor in a drop-down list, press the first letter of the word you are looking for. This quickly displays it in the field. For example, press A on your keyboard to select "AM." When you press the letter repeatedly, the system displays the next word in the list that begins with that letter, allowing you to locate items quickly.

End

Press this key to display the bottom of the screen, where you will find the Add, Apply, Save, and Cancel buttons.

Home

Press this key to display the top of the screen.

Ctrl-F

Press this key to display a Find box, in which you can enter the ID number of the record you want to find in a listing. For example, if you are displaying the Intake Workload screen, press Ctrl-F and enter the ID number of the intake you want to find. The system highlights the intake ID in the listing.

Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V

When working with text fields, you can press Ctrl-C to copy text from one field and Ctrl-V to paste it into another field.

F11

Press this key to hide the browser tool bar. (Remember, you should never use the browser's Back and Forward buttons, or the X button to exit Ohio SACWIS.)

Ctrl-mouse wheel

Hold down the Ctrl key and move the wheel on your mouse up to zoom in the display (make it appear larger). Move the wheel down to zoom out the display (make it appear smaller).

CAUTION: Be careful not to use the mouse wheel when a drop-down list is selected. You could unintentionally change your selection.

Clearing a field

To clear an entry in a drop-down field, select the blank line at the top of the list. (Not every drop-down list has a blank line to select.) Or click on the field label to the left of the field. (The Delete key does not clear a field within a drop-down list.)
