Record a Person's Military History

Workers may refer to a person's military history when completing a home study for a prospective foster or adoptive family.

To record a person's military history, complete the following steps:  

  1. Conduct a Person Search. The Person Overview screen appears.

  2. Select the Military link from the left hand navigation. The Military History screen appears. It displays any previously entered military information.    

  3. In the Miliary History area, select either, or both that apply:  

 Person is on Active Duty in the Armed Services of the US

 Person is the Legal Dependent of an Individual on Active Duty in the Armed Services of the US

  1. Click the Edit link to update an existing military record.

  2. Click the Add Military Record button. The Military Record Details screen appears.

  3. In the Branch field, select the branch of military.  This information must be entered in order to save this record.  

  4. If you selected Other in the Branch field, enter a description in the Other Military Branch field.

  5. Record the date military service began in the Date Entered field. This information must be entered in order to save this record.

  6. If the person is no longer in the military, enter the discharge date in the Date Discharged field.

  7. In the Type of Discharge drop down list, select the discharge type.

  8. Click Save. You are returned to the Military History screen.

  9. Click Save. You are returned to the Person Overview screen.
