Copy a Case Plan

Under some circumstances, the court may order the agency to create a second initial case plan. If a court order exists, a case plan can be completed for each child individually or for the siblings together if they are in the same case. You can create a new case plan by copying an existing one.

Copy a case plan only when there's a court order to create a second initial case plan.

You can copy only the most current initial case plan and only if there's a court order for a second initial case plan. (See Amend a Case Plan to create an amended case plan, or see About Case Plans for more on case plan types.)

When you copy a case plan, all of the information recorded on the original case is copied to the new case plan record, except any amendment information. The case plan type is "Initial" for a second initial, or copied case plan. The type is "Proposed" when copied from a proposed case plan.

If the placement setting was changed for any child in the case plan after the copied case plan was approved, the copied case plan does not reflect any changes to placement information, placement visitation, or caregiver services related to the child. You must create an amendment to the copied case plan.

Copy a case plan as follows:

  1. From the Home screen, click the Case tab.

  2. Click the Workload tab. The Case Workload screen appears.

  3. Click the ID Number link of the case you want to update. The Case Overview screen appears.

  4. Click the Case Plan link in the menu on the left. The Case Plan Filter Criteria screen appears.

  5. Click the Copy link next to the most current open case plan. The system displays a dialog box explaining that a court order is necessary to create another initial case plan.

  6. If you have a court order, click OK. The Identifying Information screen appears.

The system copies all of the information from the original case plan to the new case plan record and changes the case plan type to "Initial" or "Proposed." The plan number is increment to the next whole number.

  7. Make any changes necessary to the case plan details and complete the plan. (See Record a Case Plan.)
