An open case has only one initial case plan (unless a court has ordered another case plan). This plan may be edited if it is in "In Progress" status. A case plan in "Approved" status cannot be edited. Once an initial case plan has been completed and approved, every other case plan within the same case episode must be an amended case plan. (See About case plans.)

If you select Case Closure as a change reason, the system changes the
status of the case plan to "Closed." Skip the following
steps.
The system copies the information from the original case plan to this
amended case plan record and changes the case plan type to "Amended."
The plan number is an incremental decimal based on the original plan
number. The system, however, does not copy placement, visitation,
or caregiver services information when a change in the placement setting
was recorded for a child in the case plan since its approval.
Click Save. The Case Plan Topics screen appears.
Validate the plan, then submit it for approval.
