Record a Child's Discharge

If the child's current legal status on the removal record is "Child," you can record the discharge date and reason on the removal record.

Discharge information cannot be recorded directly on the removal record for a child who has an active placement record.  In this case, the discharge is entered on the placement record. (See About Removal Information or End a Child's Placement.)

Record a child's discharge on the removal record as follows:

  1. From the Home screen, click the Case tab.

  2. Click the Workload tab. The Case Workload screen appears.

  3. Click the case ID Number link of the case you want to update. The Case Overview screen appears.

  4. Click the Initial Removal link in the navigation bar on the left. The Initial Removal Record Filter Criteria screen appears. It lists the children for whom removals have been recorded on the current case.

  5. Click the Edit link next to the child's name to update removal information on a record that is in "Draft" status.

  6. Complete the Discharge Date and Discharge Reason fields.

The discharge date must be the same as the termination date on the current legal status record. (See Record a Child's Legal Status.)

  7. Click Save. You are returned to the Initial Removal Record Filter Criteria screen.
