The provider identifies the age, number, and characteristics of the children he or she is able to accept. This information is collected during the provider's initial inquiry, then maintained thereafter and approved. Different placement criteria may be recorded on different provider type records. (See Record a provider inquiry)
For a home or residential provider, the placement criteria record is approved as part of the home study or licensing process. A placement criteria record cannot be approved until a characteristics criteria record has been added. (See About home studies or Record a recommendation for certification.)
Record the provider's placement criteria preferences as follows:
From the Home screen, click the Provider tab.
Click the Workload tab. The Workload screen appears.
Click the Select link for the provider whose record you want to update. The Provider Overview screen appears.
Click the Acceptance Criteria link in the navigation bar on the left. The Acceptance Characteristics List screen appears.
Click the Usage Placement Criteria tab. The Usage Placement Criteria screen appears.
Click the Edit link for the record you want to update, or click Add Criteria to add a new placement criteria record. The Criteria screen appears.
If this is a new record, select the provider type in the Provider Type field. This provider may operate as more than one provider type.
For a home or residential provider, the system completes Placement Criteria Status field automatically based on the home study or licensing process.
To update an existing criteria record, click the Edit link, or click Add to create a new criteria record. The Usage Placement Criteria Details screen appears.
Complete all the fields on this screen.
Click OK. You are returned to the Criteria screen.
Repeat steps 8 -10 for each criteria record required.
Each placement criteria record defines a number of children of a certain gender within a certain age range. For example, a provider may be able to accept one infant and one child over age 6. In this instance, you would enter two criteria records.
Click Save. You are returned to the Usage Placement Criteria screen. Your record appears in the table with the status of In Progress.
