Process: Record a family assessment
The family assessment includes a risk assessment if this is a child abuse and/or neglect (CA/N) report. (Click Next Task below if the family assessment does not include a Risk Assessment tab.)
The risk assessment classifies families based on similar characteristics with family who have or have not repeatedly maltreated their children. As an actuarial risk assessment tool, it differentiates cases with intensive, high, moderate, or low classification categories.
You complete the risk assessment as the assessment of a CA/N report is ending, and you need to record the decision for closing the case or opening it for ongoing agency services.
To record a risk assessment, complete the following steps:
Click the Risk Assessment tab. The Risk Scores screen appears.
Select the radio button next to the answer for each item listed on the Risk Score screen. You must select one of the buttons labeled a, b, c, or d.
Click Calculate Scores. The system determines a risk score based on your selections. If you change an answer after clicking the Calculate Scores button you cannot move away from this screen until you click the button again to recalculate the scores.
Click the Policy Override link near the top of the page. The Policy Override screen appears.
If you are not overriding the actual risk level, select No in the Apply Policy Override field, then go to the "Click the Apply button" step below.
To override the actual risk level, select Yes in the Apply Policy Override field.
Select the check box next to the reason for the override.
In the narrative field near the bottom of the screen (Describe Reasons for Any Mandatory Policy Override field), explain in more detail the reason for the override.
Click the Apply button to save the information. The Risk Scores screen appears.
Click Next Task to continue.
